Getting Into Action…. The Wild Way
As a result of coaching, I find myself better equipped to get out of dead-end thought patterns. I feel I have a more tangible sense of purpose and that I’m fitting more activities into my daily life – and getting a lot more done! I’ve surprised myself with levels of creativity I didn’t know I had. Overall I feel more buoyant and less overwhelmed.

When I first met Jacky, it was clear that she was a mover and a shaker. She had a strong sense of the general direction for her inspirational contribution: she was passionate about helping people connect with nature through teaching them about wild food.
She already had a business name and a basic website and seemed to be putting a lot of energy into the project yet was frustrated that she wasn’t getting much done. She’d have ideas and then get distracted, she’d get enthusiastic and then become scattered.
She was, in her own words, “a 90 mph roller-coaster” and wanted support with putting on the brakes and finding a sustainable pace so as to avoid burnout. She hired me because she wanted to get organised, put some smart working habits in place, and really get in to action.
How did coaching help Jacky?
- Jacky developed strategies for efficient, organised business development. She stuck with her to-do lists for longer than ever before, working at her own pace and building in effective breaks.
- She became aware of her procrastination process. Her delay tactics became less attractive and she traded them in for a more immediate, tangible sense of achievement.
- She investigated her beliefs about ‘failing’ and realised that her default script told her: “if I don’t succeed the first time, I’ve failed”. We explored this topic until she reached a more empowered view of failure – that it is an opportunity to learn – which enabled her to take risks and get into action.
- She got to know her inner Saboteurs really well and learnt that taking small action steps was an effective antidote to their efforts.
- She also got clear about her pricing structure and reclaimed her right to earn good money.
- She embraced the practicalities of running her own business and started seeing herself as less flaky and more conscientious
As a result of her coaching journey, Jacky:
- got clear about her niche (“newbies to wild food, keen to escape the supermarket rat race”)
- hired a designer for her logo & business cards
- developed her website
- created a publicity stall to attract new prospects
- ran workshops & lecture lunches
- started writing articles for her blog and an on-line publication
Ultimately, she could start really enjoying her work as a wild food forager and feel that she was reaching her potential in bringing the benefits to her students.
